En 1912, la comtesse Wilhelmina von Hallwyl et son époux, le comte Walther von Hallwyl, ont fait don au musée de la collection Hallwil. La quantité et la variété d’objets et de tableaux, qui datent des XVIIIe et XIXe siècles, ainsi que les découvertes archéologiques, illustrent quelque 800 ans de vie aristocratique au château de Hallwyl dans le canton d’Argovie. La collection est présentée dans son intégralité et sous forme permanente.
