Treat yourself to an unforgettable evening of world-class theatre in the outstanding setting of the Château de Prangins. This year, as part of the Royal Jubilee Tour in celebration of Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee ADG-Europe presents to you Othello.
Indulge yourself at the Cafe du Chateau overlooking Lac Léman and take advantage of the free entry to the exhibition Ovid in the Jura. The extraordinary story of a wallpaper before the performance.
How did a decor fit for the Tuileries Palace find its way into a farm in the Bernese Jura? The exhibition reveals a luxurious parlour decorated with wallpaper bearing motifs from Ovid’s Metamorphoses: a masterpiece from the Swiss National Museum that is being shown to the public for the very first time. Illustrator Fanny Vaucher has transformed the eventful story of the decor and its colourful owner into a giant cartoon strip: a tale of wine, wallpaper, countryside and contraband!
The exhibition also sheds light on the techniques used to manufacture and apply wallpapers in the Age of Enlightenment, and tells the story of an ambitious restoration campaign carried out by the Swiss National Museum.
